Guernsey Triathlon Club and Island Games squad member James Travers won the Deva triathlon in Chester last weekend (Sunday 8 June, 2014).   Travers, who only took up the sport last year, took the overall honours finishing in an extremely credible time of 1 hour 59 minutes and 34 seconds beating a field of 485 athletes, a time on par with professional triathletes over the same Olympic length distance.   Travers joined the first wave of 100 competitors in his age group (25-29 years) to...

A massive turn out yesterday with lots of new faces, not including the biennial Granite Man event, it looked like the clubs biggest triathlon ever, with 61 athletes. Thanks to Brian and friends for the kayak support and photos.  Thanks to Remi and Nikki for marshalling, to Hazel for doing all of the maths, and Simon for shouting at everyone. Triathlon Rules & Tips:   Check the website regularly for any last minute course changes or news.   Please turn up early to set up your equipment in transition and listen to the race briefing.  Generally sign on begins at 7.15, race briefing at 7.40 and 8am start.   Sometimes when the sea conditions are bad (i.e. too rough or water is too cold) we have either cancelled the race or raced a duathlon instead.      The use of MP3 players is not allowed,...

There was some excellent racing over in Rennes last weekend.  Guernsey punched well above their weight with some well-deserved podium places.  Max Thornton had a brilliant debut at Olympic distance, and came in 34th.  James Travers had an excellent race and came in 2nd in the Olympic distance race.  It was only Jersey’s Thomas Perchard who stood in his way. NO HERM SWIM PLACES LEFT - please contact emma to put your name on the reserve list This years tri club swim to Herm has been provisionally set for Wednesday 20 August at 5.40PM. Unfortunately due to the tides we have had to go with a mid week swim this year but this was the best compromise we could find. We are also limiting the swim to 20 people.
