Granite Kids Race 5th May

On 5th May 2013, 15 children aged 8 to 14 took part in the second Granitekids race held immediately after the adult novice triathlon at BeauSejour. The eight, nine and ten year olds raced first, swimming in the pool then riding their bikes in laps around the softball pitch and finally running laps of the football field. An exciting race saw Molly Farell lead in the 9 and 10 year olds, first boy in the nine and tens was Elliot Lock. Thierry Le Cheminant looked strong racing in a category above his age and there was some determined racing from first timers Samantha Whalley, Darcey Ellis and Francesca Neal. Evie Bowie had a particularly strong run and looked as if she enjoyed the race.

A small turnout from the eleven to fourteen year olds meant the three boys were set off together. Remi Naftel at fourteen looked competent in all three disciplines and will soon enjoy competing in the adult races. Joshua Thornton led Tom Stapley in the swim and held his lead in both the run to come in a comfortable first in the eleven and twelves.
