This is Guernsey’s Otillo style SwimRun event to be raced in pairs, carrying all your kit and safety equipment from start to finish, looking after one another along the way. You will run and swim in the same equipment. Our Guernsey version will use the West Coast paths and bays, rounding some bays on foot and traversing some bays in the sea. Guernsey ÖTILLÖ SwimRun Course Details Water Safety Cover: This is very much a self-supported adventure style race, where you and your team-mate will be the first form of safety cover for each other. You will be connected during each swim leg and have a tow float for visibility and buoyancy should one of you get into difficulty. We will have a few people standing by from the shore with kayaks and SUPs as secondary cover. If you or your teammate get into difficulty, please raise attention by waving your arms and blowing your whistle. The safety crew from the shore will then respond to you.

1. You must race in pairs.

2. You must stay connected within 10m of your team-mate in the sea.

3. If your team-mate retires, you must also retire and inform the race coordinator by calling the phone number provided on the laminated course map (to be provided to you at registration).

4. Each team must carry the following throughout the race: a. Bungee / rope - you must stay connected in pairs for every swim leg (optional for run legs) with a bungee / rope of max. 10 metres. b. Bright coloured swim caps (one each). c. Bright coloured swim buoy / bobber (one per team). d. Whistle (one each) - these must be accessible during each swim leg in order to alert a shore support team should you or your team-mate get into difficulty. e. Laminated course map (one per team - to be provided at registration).

Recommended Kit: ● Wetsuit - minimum of a shortie wetsuit is recommended. ● Mobile phone in a dry bag or similar waterproof cover. ● First aid kit. ● Run shoes. Optional Kit: ● Swim hand paddles. ● Pull buoy (float between the legs). ● Flippers. Food & Drink (Aid Stations): You and your team-mate will be responsible for providing your own food and drink on the day. If you have someone following & supporting you during the race, they can carry your food & drink for you. Or bring some cash and enjoy a cuppa or ice cream at one of the kiosks along the way. Otherwise please put your food and drink in named bags and bring them with you to registration. There will be four marked boxes at registration, one for each aid station shown on the course map. Please place your bags in the relevant boxes and they will be transported to each aid station.
